Our Story

During the four years I lived in Yucatán, Mexico, I was surrounded by Mayan culture, colourful colonial architecture, and the rich tropical nature of the peninsula. The colours and geometric patterns around me inspired me to design a series of cement mosaics for the renovation of a colonial house. It was through this creative process that I discovered my passion for patterns, colour combinations, and shapes — the same design elements that continue to inspire every KIN piece today.

KIN (K'iin) means "sun" in the Mayan language, but it also means "day." Together, these words evoke warmth, light, and joy — the feeling I hope every KIN piece carries. Today, each design is created in Zurich and handcrafted in small batches in Yucatán. This project would not exist without Olivia, a talented artisan from the Yucatán Peninsula. Her passion lies in beadwork, and every pair of earrings is carefully handcrafted through our close collaboration.

At KIN, we believe in creating beautiful objects through meaningful human connections, respectful partnerships, and craftsmanship that values quality over mass production.
