During the four years I lived in Yucatan, I was surrounded by Mayan culture, colonial architecture and the rich tropical nature of the Yucatecan Peninsula. The colors and shapes in this environment inspired me to design some cement mosaics that we used in the renovation of a colonial house, and so it all began. Soon after, I began designing my own earrings, and the excitement I felt while designing motivated me to continue creating new designs.

KIN (K'iin) means ‘sun’ in the Mayan calendar, but also ‘day’. Put these two words together and you get what I might define as joy, the joy I hope to inspire in each of my designs.

This project is also possible thanks to Olivia, a Mexican artisan from the Yucatan Peninsula. Her passion is working with beads, and when she makes earrings, she feels happy.
